In the race for an unbeaten league record, Nazareth’s boys basketball team beat the nationally ranked girls.
Samson Usilo had 15 points and Naquan Chandler had 13 points to lead Naz to a 56-33 win over Salesian in CHSAA Class B boys basketball Friday in New Rochelle. Shajea Stephenson had 10 points and Mike Megafu had nine points and 14 rebounds for the Kingsmen (18-6, 12-0 ‘B’), who have won 10 straight games.
It is the first time in coach Todd Jamison’s tenure that Nazareth has completed a league season undefeated. The first-place Kingsmen have a bye into the CHSAA Class B semifinals, which are set for Feb. 28 at a venue to be determined. They will face the winner of a quarterfinal contest next Saturday between St. Agnes and Cathedral Prep. Salesian (9-14, 6-4) will meet Cathedral Prep that day.
NON-LEAGUE
Packer Collegiate 50, Trinity 47: Ethan Feldman had 21 points and seven rebounds and Nick Morton added nine points and nine rebounds for Packer Collegiate (20-3), which has won 17 straight games. Seniors Morton, Billy Dudine, Angus MacIntyre and Taylor Hickson were honored before tip-off in their final home game. Trinity is 6-12.
Fieldston 52, Friends Seminary 39: Will Savage had 13 points and Tyler Ridley had 10 for Fieldston (19-4), which faces FDA in the Collegiate Invitational next Thursday at 4 p.m.
