La Catedral de Oviedo o de San Salvador, situada en el corazn del casco viejo se levanta sobre la baslica mandada construir por Alfonso II el Casto bajo la advocacin de San Salvador. Se inici la construccin en el siglo XVI sobre las ruinas de una iglesia anterior edificada por su padre, Fruela I en el ao 765 y destruida en 794 por los rabes.

Oviedo Cathedral or St. Salvador, located in the heart of the old basilica was built on built by Alfonso II the Chaste under the name of San Salvador. Construction began in the sixteenth century on the ruins of an earlier church built by his father, Fruela I in 765 and destroyed in 794 by Arabs.

Is ScarJo's Dolce & Gabbana perfume commercial for real?
By second 13 of Scarlett Johansson's new perfume commercial, I was certain it was a Saturday Night Live parody.
But no, it ends with a closeup shot of a bottle of perfume and a voice-over saying very seriously, "Dolce & Gabbana's The One."
What comes before it is a cross between a Jackie Mason routine and a press interview with Ava Gardner, conducted by Fozzy Bear.
"I had an Italian boyfriend once, his mother broke up with me." Pause. Smirk. "How do I know it was a lie? Because I read it in your newspaper." Cup curls. Check makeup. Retro-fied ScarJo rattles off hay-o after hay-o sprinkled with a few romantic notions. ("Music inspires me. Art inspires me. And so does the wind.")
Because it's a perfume commercial we're supposed to be enamored. Because it's ScarJo, who despite her blinding glamour, possesses a contemporary ironic affect, it all seems like a big joke about silly celebrities who star in silly perfume commercials.
As a result, it makes for an utterly captivating 82 seconds. But I'm still not sure if I'm laughing with the commercial or at it. Is it a joke?

Measuring up
In the 50h forest monitoring plot, each tree with a trunk diameter of greater than 10mm get geo-referenced, tagged, and a full bio-survey. Researchers will survey the plot every 3-5 years, so over time, we can build up a rich GIS map of the plot, showing the dynamics over time. This will allow valuable insight into the functioning of PNG's rainforest ecosystems

Ancient Stone Village
Co Thach is a small seaside village in Tuy Phong, Binh Thuan Province Vietnam, which is approaximately 200 miles North of Ho Chi Minh City.
This area is known for having many interesting rock formations, hence "Co Thach" means "ancient rocks" in Vietnamese. Most unique about many of the beaches there is the gravel stones, covering in thick layers along the beaches.
These stones' shapes and sizes are like the basalt massage stones commonly used in spas.

The Masonic Lodge in Port Gamble.
From the Port Gamble web site:-
"The Masons established their first lodge in Port Gamble in 1859 and Assistant Superintendent Cyrus Walker was a founding member. The Masons were strong in Maine, home of most of the early mill employees and managers. The current lodge was originally built in 1871 on the opposite side of Rainier Avenue and replaced the original building that was destroyed by fire in 1867.
In 1907, the hall was moved across the street, but was not turned to face the street in order to preserve the Masonic ritual orientation towards the east. The original faade is on the west side.
Because the building was leased from the Puget Mill Co. for $1 a year, it was viewed by workers as neutral territory and safe for union meetings. "

Kaaterskill Falls
Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskill Mountains near Catskill, New York. This waterfall is right off of Route 23A between Catskill and Hunter Mountain. There is a parking area nearby and you walk down to these falls along the road. Not the safest trek but manageable.
The water is brown from runoff from an overnight rain and mudslides. A quarter mile down the road from here is a temporary traffic light for a one lane stretch where half the road has caved in. All effects from Hurricane Irene in late August.
